PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they've arrested three people on drug-related charges after finding nearly 560 bags of heroin inside a northern New York residence.

Police in the city of Plattsburgh say the Adirondack Drug Task Force executed a search warrant Wednesday at a home on Lafayette Street and found 559 bags of heroin with an estimated street value of $20,000.

Officials say they charged a 27-year-old New Jersey man with criminal possession of a controlled substance. A man and woman from Plattsburgh were charged with criminal nuisance and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say the couple maintained a residence where the unlawful sale of controlled substances was taking place. Officials say the couple allowed their two young children to be present in their home while heroin was being sold.
