Albany, NY (WIBX) - The State School Boards Association says 93% of school district budgets were passed statewide on Tuesday.

Initial results gathered by the NYSSBA show voters passed 634 of 677 budgets, with two districts yet to report.

43 budgets were defeated.

Executive Director Tim Kremer says voters realized that districts did all they could to limit spending and taxes this year

Vernon-Verona-Sherrill was the only local school district to see its budget defeated.

Last year, taxpayers approved 92% of school district budgets.

The average passage rate since 1969 is 84%.
