Shafer and Sons Storage Sheds on Route 233 in Westmoreland was the scene of a large fire this week that saw the business lose 'most everything'. However, owner Jason Shafer says they're still in business and wanted to local fire fighters who responded and tried to salvage what they could.

''The five fire departments that were here were unbelievable. These guys were running into the burning building and pulling all of our paperwork out. Yes, [the fire] wiped out all the lumber, all of our tools and the shop, but they saved all of our paperwork,'' Shafer said on WIBX First News with Keeler in the Morning.

''They're bringing out a computer and it was melting in their hands,'' he recalled.

With orders in place through February, the company has a lot of 'scheduled business' to keep them busy until they can fully rebuild. Shafer says the company is insured so lost product and facilities will be replaced.

For now, they're working out of a mobile office and a temporary building shop. He says the company does more than storage sheds, including decks, garages and pole barns. Until their phones lines are repaired, the company can be reached at 315-527-4952.
