ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York state comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says officials will be keeping an eye on tax collections during this holiday season after a slight dip in receipts.

State tax collections totaled nearly $41.6 billion through October, a drop of 1.8 percent from the same period last year. DiNapoli blamed lagging personal income tax receipts. One bright spot: collections last month were higher than in October 2015.

With personal income taxes falling short of projections, DiNapoli says state officials will be closely watching holiday shopping tax collections as well as Wall Street bonuses, which are subject to state taxes.
