Arrest Made After Multiple Burglaries at Valley Brook Motel in New Hartford

A man is in custody following a lengthy investigation into a string of burglaries at The Valley Brook Motel in New Hartford.

19-year-old Daniel G.Y. Maaiah allegedly used stolen room keys to unlawfully enter multiple rooms at the Seneca Turnpike motel. Once inside the rooms property was stolen.

Following several leads it was determined that Maaiah had relocated to Syracuse, and it was believed he was trying to flee the state. New Hartford Police were assisted in the investigation and apprehension of Maaiah; by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Syracuse Office.

Maaiah was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or bond.
