AT&T Brings Distracted Driving Simulator To Utica
AT&T has brought its touring 3D Virtual Reality Simulator to Utica.
It's part of Oneida County Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
The public will get a chance to experience first-hand how dangerous it is to take their eyes off the road and glance at a phone, even if it's just for two seconds.
County Executive Anthony Picente says distracted driving has become a big problem.
He says distracted driving was responsible for multiple fatalities in Oneida County last year. Picente says the County is establishing a task force to assess and combat the rising problem.
The simulator will be on display until 4:30 in front of the County Office Building.
Utica is one of only 200 stops nationwide for the "It Can Wait" simulator
AT&T research shows 7 in 10 people engage in smartphone activities behind the wheel.
