Utica, NY (WIBX) - An investigation into a report of an attack that happened in an elevator last month, resulted in the arrest of the suspect, 43-year-old Ricky Thompson of Neilson Street in Utica. Officials say Thompson attacked the female victim while riding the elevator to the 10th floor of the apartment building.

The suspect allegedly repeatedly punching her in the face, and dragged her out of the elevator into the stairwell where the attack continued. A man, who heard the victim screaming, says he opened the stairwell door and yelled at the suspect to stop but was threatened with a six inch knife.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. He was recently apprehended by members of the US Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, NYS Police officials, Oneida County Probation Officers, and NYS Parole Officers, and taken into custody to face Menacing, Assault and Criminal Possession of a Weapon charges, (3 Misdemeanors). Officials say Thompson is also facing a Parole Violation.
