The City of Utica's Board of Estimate & Apportionment has unanimously approved Mayor Robert Palmieri's proposed $71.8 million budget.

The 2019 spending plan comes with a two-percent property tax decrease.

Common Council President Mike Galime cast his vote via video conferencing, the first time in Utica's history a vote has ever been cast through this method.

The budget now goes to the Common Council, which has until March 20th to pass any amendments.

The new fiscal year begins on April 1st.
