The Utica man who killed three of his family members in January of last year will be sent to a secure psychiatric facility for six months.

Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara tells WIBX News two doctors from the State Office of Mental Health told the court on Thursday that Paul Bumbolo is "dangerously mentally ill."

McNamara says Bumbolo will be re-evaluated in six months.

Bumbolo pleaded not guilty by reason of mental defect or disorder in the murders of his aunt, uncle and sister.
