Utica Councilwoman Samantha Colosimo-Testa was joined by North Genesee Street business owners at Aqua Vino Restaurant today to voice their opposition to a proposed asphalt plant.

Syracuse-based Riccelli Northern wants to build a concrete and blacktop plant on Leland Avenue.

Colosimo-Testa, who represents North Utica, says the smell and dust, a concern for health, local economic development and the future of the harbor area are all major concerns.  She says the says the location is not the right place for an asphalt plant.

Testa is encouraging residents of North Utica and business owners to attend tomorrow night's Utica Common Council meeting to show their support in opposition to the plant.

The Common Council is expected to vote Wednesday night on the sale of the property to Riccelli.
