The cause of death of a 15-month old girl who was found in a car in Dolgeville has been released.

Herkimer County District Attorney Jeffery Carpenter tells WIBX News the infant's death was caused by hyperthermia and dehydration due to exposure in a hot, confined environment.

State Police say the father apparently left the child in the vehicle after getting ready and leaving for work.

The incident remains under investigation.
