Syracuse, NY (WIBX) - Centro has earned the Transit Security Administration’s top rating for security preparedness.

To earn the "Gold Standard" rating a transit system must score an average of 90-percent on 17 security preparedness categories. TSA officials say only a few transit systems nationwide hold this distinction.

Centro covers four counties in Central New York, providing more than 14 million rides a year.
