Charges Reinstated Against New York Hunter Who Shot Neighbor
MAYVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — Manslaughter charges have been reinstated against a western New York hunter who fatally shot a neighbor he mistook for a deer.
Chautauqua County District Attorney Patrick Swanson says a grand jury has handed up the same charge against Thomas B. Jadlowski that a judge previously dismissed.
In February, County Judge David Foley dismissed the charge because he had an issue with how the prosecutor instructed grand jury members during questioning.
Rosemary Billquist, a 43-year-old hospital worker and hospice volunteer, was shot while walking her two yellow Labrador retrievers in a field behind her home the evening of Nov. 22.
Jadlowski heard Billquist cry out after firing. He ran to her, called 911 and administered first aid until emergency responders arrived.
