A judge says the younger of two students charged in a fatal school shooting in suburban Denver in May will be tried as an adult. Sixteen-year-old Alec McKinney and 18-year-old Devon Erickson each face over 40 charges in the shooting at STEM School Highlands Ranch that killed one of their classmates. The judge said the seriousness of the offenses and the protection of the community required consequences beyond those provided by juvenile court.
