PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) — Students in upstate New York's Clinton County now have the opportunity to take part in a college deal — 90 percent off tuition for attending a local community college part-time.

A Clinton Community College spokesperson says applicants will have to pay for two classes, totaling about $1,300. WPTZ-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2pNlztn ) the college will cover the rest of their tuition until students complete their degrees.

The only requirements are that applicants must have been out of school for at least two years, be from Clinton County and continue every term with at least two classes.

The college says the program is catered to part-time students, who are not covered under New York state's new Excelsior Scholarship, which offers free tuition to full-time students from lower income households attending state colleges and universities.
