Cops: Child Dies When SUV Crashes Into Trees Near Rochester
WEBSTER, N.Y. (AP) — State police say a child has died in a one-vehicle, late-night crash on a suburban Rochester road.
Troopers say they responded around 11 p.m. Tuesday to a report of an SUV crash on Route 104 in the town of Webster. Police say a 31-year-old man was driving in the eastbound lane when the SUV went off the road, crossed a service road and slammed into trees.
Troopers say there were three children in the vehicle, ages 6 months, 2 years and 5 years. Police haven't disclosed the age of the child who died. The man and two surviving children were treated for injuries.
Investigators say they believe alcohol played a factor in the crash.
Police expect to release more information Wednesday.
