Cuomo Details $50M Plan To Boost Rochester’s Riverfront

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is proposing a $50 million investment in Rochester's riverfront.

The Democrat traveled to the city on Thursday to detail his plan, which is included in his $168 billion state budget proposal now before lawmakers.

The funding would go to efforts to improve recreational opportunities and public spaces along the Genesee River. It would also be leveraged with private money to attract more businesses and other developments downtown.

A local advisory committee would be set up to recommend projects for investment.

Cuomo says the effort is intended to showcase Rochester's natural setting while re-establishing the riverfront as the centerpiece of the city's downtown.
