Utica Comets fan favorite Darren Archibald has been signed and called-up to the NHL's Vancouver Canucks, the team has announced.

This means Archibald likely won't be with the Comets as they prepare for a pair of home matchups this weekend. Archibald, 27, is the Comets' franchise leader in games played have been with the club since the 2013-14 season.

The 2013-14 campaign is also the last time he logged playing time in the NHL. 'Archie' appeared in 16 games with the Canucks that season, registering a goal and two assits.

This year with Utica, Archibald has recorded seven goals and nine assists (16 points) in 25 games. He did miss some time this season due to injury (concussion).

The Comets are home for two games this weekend, hosting the Laval Rocket and the Belleville Senators - with games set for 7:00 on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Canucks are playing a pair of games on the East Coast this weekend - Vancouver visits Tampa Thursday night and Carolina on Friday night.
