More than two dozen law enforcement officers from across the Northeast are at Utica College this week for a highly specialized cybersecurity course.

The "Intermediate Data and Recovery" course is being taught by experts from the National White Collar Crime Center.

It covers how to retrieve data from digital media like cellphones and laptops and how to analyze the data once it's retrieved.

Ray Philo, Director of UC's Economic Crime and Cybersecurity Institute, says nearly every crime committed today has a digital component.

Philo says the training helps officers establish themselves as expert witnesses.

The course runs through Friday.
