Utica, NY (WIBX) - Once again local law enforcement officials are distributing signs to registered sex offenders indicating their status and informing them that they are not allowed to greet trick or treaters on Halloween.

Among the restrictions is one that states that registered sex offenders must stay home until 6:00am on November 1st and be available to answer telephone calls from parole officers if they are contacted.

Children should be advised not to knock on doors displaying the "No Candy at this Residence" signs, which may be orange or black and white.

Questions may be directed to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision at (518) 457.8182 or to local law enforcement officials.
