DWI Arrest After Motor Vehicle Accident in Utica

Utica, NY (WIBX) - A motor vehicle accident at the intersection of James Street and Steuben Street in the City of Utica leads to a DWI arrest. According to police, 30-year old Russell Zakala of Whitsboro was involved in the accident and as police investigated the incident, they became concerned about the sobriety of Zakala. Officers conducted field sobriety tests and later learned that he had a BAC of .15 %.

The Whitesboro man was taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor DWI and issued a traffic citation. Police say that one driver passed the red light on Steuben Street and struck the other vehicle traveling on James Street. The case has been referred to the Oneida County DA’s office for possible grand jury submission.
