Excellus Awards Hospitals $24.5 Million For Quality Improvements
47 upstate New York hospitals and health centers earned $24.5 million in quality improvement incentives from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield last year.
Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Rome Memorial Hospital and Bassett Healthcare all participated in the health insurer's Hospital Performance Incentive Program in 2013.
The program evaluates hospitals on 250 performance measures.
“With the financial pressures being faced by hospitals, particularly in upstate New York, many of us would not be able to devote the resources necessary for these very valuable projects without the assistance Excellus BCBS provided,” said Dr. Albert D’Accurzio, Vice President of Medical Affairs, St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
In the past ten years, Excellus has awarded over $169 million in quality performance incentives.
