Father Shoots Son at Old Forge Motel

Old Forge, NY (WIBX) - A Rochester man is dead following a shooting at an Old Forge motel. According to State Police, 37 year old Matthew Leach was shot by his own Father, 57 year old Michael Leach, who is a police officer in Perry, New York. Authorities say he mistakenly shot his son, who had returned to the motel room, at the Clark Beach Motel. State Police say the father thought his son was an intruder. The gun used in the shooting was a department issued .45 caliber handgun.

Michael Leach was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital in Utica, NY where he remains for a medical issue.  The investigation is continuing.
