A number of projects will be getting underway soon aimed at mitigating flooding across Oneida County.

Kevin Lewis, Executive Director of the County Soil and Water Conservation District, says the projects will include stabilizing streams and constructing detention ponds on Oriskany and Sauquoit Creeks

He says that will help prevent the destruction caused by flooding.

The projects will take place in the Towns of Kirkland, New Hartford, Paris and Westmoreland.

Following last year's severe flooding, County Executive Anthony Picente announced the county would allocate $500,000 in funding for flood mitigation projects.
