Utica, NY (WIBX) - Former candidate for Oneida County Sheriff Angela Gumbarevic formally pleaded guilty in court today for forging several signatures on her petition for office. She pled guilty to Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, which is a Class D Felony. Gumbarevic, who will be sentenced on May 24th, is facing 5 years of probation, as well as a $375 fine for forging 5 signatures on petitions she submitted to the County Board of Elections. Officials say another female suspect is also facing charges in this case.

Gumbaravic was suspended without pay from her position as a Corrections Officer two weeks ago, following her indictment of the forgery charges, and according to Undersheriff Rob Swenszkowski an internal investigation examining whether she violated any policies, codes of conduct or rules within the Sheriff's Office is ongoing.
