Fort Drum Soldier Charged With Rape In Oneida County

A soldier from Fort Drum has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a girl under the age of 16 in Oneida County.

Investigators with the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center say 21-year old Paul Spalding, Junior, a US Army Specialist, visited the girl in Remsen on several occasions during the past three months.   they say he had sex with the girl in a vehicle.

Spalding is charged with one count of rape

The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.

US Army officials are also involved in the investigation.

The victim has been offered counseling through the Child Advocacy Center.
