Fort Drum Soldier Charged With Rape

A soldier stationed at Fort Drum has been arrested following a two-month investigation by the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.

26-year old Denis Omuriuki is accused of having sex with a victim under the age of 17 in Rome between May and September of 2014.

Omuriuki is charged with rape. He was sent to the Oneida County jail on $10,000 bail.

The case has been turned over to the District Attorney's Office for grand jury consideration.
