Frankfort Man Facing Hate Crime Charges

A Frankfort man has been arrested on felony hate crime charges.

Ilion Police say 40-year old William Buchanan allegedly threatened two African-American children with the handle of a hatchet.

Police say he also made derogatory comments to the youth regarding their race.

Buchanan is charged two counts of menacing as a hate crime, endangering the welfare of a child, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon.

Ilion Police were assisted by New York State Police.
