Rome, NY (WIBX) - Using an airport hangar at Mohawk Valley Community College's Griffiss park campus as a backdrop, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand joined local legislators, veterans, and instructors to announce the take-off of legislation she is sponsoring to make certain that returning war veterans have jobs to come back to when they come home.

It is being called the "Vow to Hire Heroes Act," and the Senator told WIBX that it was important to make the national announcement in Rome, as she believes that Griffiss is important to both New York and the nation.

Senator Gillibrand was joined by several local legislators rallying behind the legislation including State Senator Joseph Griffo, State Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney, State Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, and Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente.

More than 200 hundred veterans are currently enrolled at MVCC. Gillibrand says that their unique skill sets make veterans especially valuable to employers.
