Utica, NY (WIBX) - The City of Utica Republican Committee has endorsed Philip Bruno for the city's 6th Ward council seat.

Bruno is a small business owner who launched 'The Autolister' in 2005 and started the sales consulting service Northeast Dealer Consultants.

“I believe that North Utica is a wonderful place to live and raise a family,” said Bruno. “I’m a small business owner, a father and a husband and my ideas are really very simple: Business friendly, Well Maintained city, and low taxes. We can't attract new businesses and jobs if we can't provide the basic services that residents are entitled to, we must make the city of Utica a desirable place to live and do business in," he said.

Bruno added that the city also needs a council that’s willing to work together and make smart decisions.

“I know I can be a part of a new generation of public servants that can turn things around and put a stop to our downward spiral,” he added.

The 6th Ward seat is currently held by Democrat Richard Lawler. He tells WIBX that he isn't yet sure whether he'll seek re-election.
