A local veteran has finally received the medals he earned for his service in the Navy during World War Two.

90-year old Matt Lichorowic purchased Harts Hill Inn in 1963 and his family still owns and operates it today.  Lichoriwic was presented the medals by Congressman Richard Hanna at his Utica office with his family and friends looking on.

Lichorowic received several medals including the Word War Two Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with one silver and two bronze battle stars.

He served in the Navy from 1943 to1946.

“Mr. Lichorowic served his country during a time of war and then came home, started a business and built his life right here in the Mohawk Valley,” Rep. Hanna said. “It is an honor to stand with him today, present him these service medals and thank him for lending his skills to the war effort. On behalf of a grateful nation, we salute you, Mr. Lichorowic.”
