Utica, NY (WIBX) - Congressman Richard Hanna is pushing for legislation aimed at keeping the local Post Offices open.

Hanna says he supports a recent decision made by the U-S Postal Service, to delay the closing and consolidation of post offices, and processing centers, until May 15, 2012.

He says the delay "could alter the need to close some postal facilities and processing centers like those in utica and Binghamton."

Hanna is also co-sponsoring a bipartisan bill that would help the Postal Service recover nearly $7 billion in overpayments to its pension fund.
