Helicopter Back At New Hartford Post For Veterans Day
New Hartford, NY (WIBX) - The US Army helicopter outside of the New Hartford American Legion returned just in time for a Veteran's Day remembrance ceremony Friday.
Post Commander Fred Williams says the chopper was returned to its home yesterday, after being refurbished by MVCC students at Griffiss International Airport.
"It's a symbol of what we need to protect our troops, and to maintain our freedom in our country. [The helicopter] is just a sample of it. It represents the U.S. miliatry and all of our veterans," Williams said.
The helicopter was purchased in 2002 from the military surplus at Fort Drum.
