Syracuse, NY (WIBX) - The Syracuse-based Hofmann Sausage Company is helping needy people across Central New York during the crucial holiday season.

Hofmann's is donating 48,000 hot dogs, split equally between the Food Bank of Central New York and the Rescue Mission of Syracuse.

Hofmann Founder and Vice Chairman of the Board, Rusty Flook, says the donation is something of a tradition for him.

"This is something that I do every year, but not usually on this large a scale," Flook said. "But, based on the fact of the need and the fact that Hofmann's has always been involved in the community, we feel that the benefactors here could really use it."

And for those that think this is just a load of bologna... the hot dogs are among Hofmann's finest natural casing franks and Conies.

The Food Bank of Central New York partners with 268 food programs in 11 counties, including Oneida, Herkimer and Madison.
