Hospital: Trooper Injured In Crash On NY’s I-86 Is Improving

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — The condition of a state trooper injured last week in a crash on an upstate New York highway is improving.

The Democrat and Chronicle reports (http://on.rocne.ws/2qcE72w ) that officials at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester say Trooper Craig Foglia's condition has been upgraded from critical to guarded.

The 13-year veteran suffered serious injuries during a traffic stop on May 17 on Interstate 86 in the Steuben (stoo-BEHN') County town of Campbell, about 70 miles (113 kilometers) south of Rochester.

State police say Foglia had pulled over a vehicle for speeding in the westbound lanes and was sitting in his trooper car parked on the shoulder of the highway when his vehicle was hit from behind by a pick-up truck.

The drive of the pick-up hasn't been charged. Troopers say their investigation into the crash is continuing.
