Ilion Superintendent Cos Tangorra joined WIBX First News with Keeler in the Morning on Wednesday to talk about the Ilion-Mohawk merger approval the night before:

  • Tangorra says the approval of the merger is important for the students because the Ilion district would have had to close a gap in the budget that would amount to about 20% of their workforce.
  • Tangorra also agreed with Keeler assertion that area school children are being shortchanged educationally because of school budget gaps.
  • Electing the new school board will be the most important decision that Ilion and Mohawk voters will make in 'quite some time', because of the responsibility they will have in managing the influx of state aid
