Ingersoll Appointed Provisional Utica Fire Chief
Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri has appointed Utica Assistant Fire Chief Scott Ingersoll as Provisional Fire Chief, effective today.
Ingersoll is a 19-year member of the Utica Fire Department.
The Fire Chief's position became vacant as the result of the mandatory retirement of Chief Russell Brooks.
Meanwhile, George Clark, who retired in April, will be re-instated as Assistant Fire Chief.
The Mayor has called for Civil Service exams for both positions, which will be administered in January.
Palmier's decision was reached after consulting with UFD personnel and the Chairman of the Common Council's Public Safety Committee.
