An investigation is underway at Colgate University after a student with a glue gun led to a campus lockdown.

Students were ordered to shelter in place for four hours Monday night while police investigated reports of a gunman on the campus.  But authorities say the "threat" turned out to be a student using a glue gun for an art project.

Students later took to social media expressing concern because the student with the glue gun happened to be a minority.

Colgate President Brian Casey says the Director of Campus Safety has been put on administrative leave as college officials conduct a review of the incident.  He says it's important to understand what role racial bias may have played in the initial reporting of and response to the incident.

Casey says he'll  have a report to share with the campus community within ten days.
