Can't say that no one saw this coming. It's likely the now former Jets' coach and general manager were both just waiting for an official word.

And, now it is.

Head coach Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik were both fired by the New York Jets on Monday - a day referred to as Black Monday as teams looking to make administrative changes often do so on the first day after the regular season ends.

Ryan's six-year run as coach of the Jets started well with back-to-back trips to the AFC title game in his first two seasons. Since, the team has gone 26-48 over the last four seasons. Overall, Gang Green was 46-50 under Ryan.

Idzik was completing just his second year as GM, after spending the previous six years as vice president of football operations with the Seattle Seahawks.
