The United States House of Representatives will vote on a new Speaker on October 29, 2015.

Current Speaker John Boehner made the announcement today.  C-SPAN sent an alert about twenty minutes ago that the vote has been scheduled.

Boehner shocked many when he announced on September 25, 2015 that he would resign his position effective at the end of October.

The 65-year-old Ohio Republican has been Speaker since 2011.

There is no word yet from the Boehner camp as to whom the Speaker wishes to succeed him, although many have speculated that the natural choice would be current House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R, CA-23rd).
