ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — State lawmakers have passed a bill to move New York's Primary Day to Thursday, Sept. 13.

It's currently scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Lawmakers and supporters said that they wanted to move the date in honor of 9/11, as well as in observation of the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah.

WHEC says the bill — passed by both the state Senate and Assembly — now goes to Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
