Utica, NY (WIBX) - The 19th annual National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive is taking place this Saturday.

Paul Yarwood, a letter carrier in Utica, says all you have to do is place non-perishable food items by your mailbox before your mail is delivered and your letter carrier will do the rest.

You can also drop off food at any post office during open hours.

All the food collected will go to local food pantries, including Hope House, the Rescue Mission in Utica, the Salvation Army, the Thea Bowman House and the Community Food Bank.

Yarwood says the Utica Post Offices typically collects between 12,000 and 14,000 pounds of food from this one day drive.
