Utica, NY (WIBX) - Local veterans are receiving a helping hand, thanks to a little help from the Oneida County Government.

According to County Executive Anthony Picente, the county is working with the Mohawk Valley Regional Volunteer Center, and other local groups, to collect food items for local veterans organizations.

The food drive is in honor of the National Day of Service and Remembrance, held on September 11.

People can donate nonperishable food by dropping it off at the Oneida County Public Market, held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., on Saturdays at Union Station.
