Little Falls Woman Charged with Arson Following Suspicious House Fire
A Little Falls woman is behind bars following an investigation into a suspicious house fire. State Police discovered that a blaze on Burt Road in Little Falls was caused by alleged arson.
On Sunday Troopers arrived at the scene and found a woman standing in the doorway of the residence holding two knives. 32-year-old Iryna Recchia was threatening officers with the blades and refused to comply with their commands.
As fire crews battled the blaze Troopers continued to attempt to get Recchia to comply with their commands, but she still refused. As a result, police were forced to use a taser to subdue Recchia. She was taken into custody without incident.
Due to the fire a 46-year-old male was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital with severe burns. In addition four New York State Troopers were treated at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare for smoke inhalation and released.
Iryna Recchia is facing several charges including Felony Arson in the Second Degree, Felony Menacing a Police Officer, Felony Reckless Endangerment, and Resisting Arrest.
