Local Unemployment Rate Falls In November

The New York State Department of Labor has released preliminary local unemployment rates for November.

In the Utica-Rome area, the unemployment rate was 6% last month, down from 6.8% in November of last year.

The state's jobless rate fell to 5.9%  in November.

That's the lowest level since September of 2008.

Meanwhile, the state's private sector job count increased by 97,000 from November 2013 to November 2014.
