(Updated at 1:50 p.m.)  Central Valley Academy has lifted the lockdown at Jarvis Middle School.  State Police is investigating the threat that came in earlier in the day. School officials say it is now safe for students. 

Earlier in the day, witnesses near the school in Mohawk told WIBX several State Police vehicles are positioned around the school.  The district issued this statement on their website:

At 2:00 p.m.- The Lockdown was lifted.  The Central Valley School District posted the following statement on their website:

The lockdown at Jarvis Middle School has ended. School officials initiated the lockdown after the report of a specific threat against the school. Mohawk Police, Ilion Police, Herkimer Police, and New York State Police conducted a complete search of the school. After a thorough investigation, police determined the building, students, and staff to be safe.

Jarvis Middle School students will be dismissed at the normal time. All after school activities will take place as scheduled.
