Georgetown, NY (WIBX) - The Madison County Sheriff's Office is investigating a hit and run accident.

It happened just before 7:30 Thursday night on Route 26 between East Hill and Bronder Hollow Roads in Georgetown.

Deputies say a 76-year old man was walking along Route 26 when he was struck from behind by a passing vehicle.

He was taken to University Hospital in Syracuse with non-life threatening injuries.

The only description of the vehicle is that it's a smaller car, dark in color.

The vehicle is missing its passenger side mirror as a result of the accident.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the Madison County Sheriff's Office at 366-2311.
