Man Charged With Murder In Syracuse Woman’s Slaying In 2016
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a grand jury has indicted a man on murder charges in the killing of a woman inside her Syracuse apartment last fall.
The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (http://bit.ly/2mABKI2 ) that Onondaga County prosecutors say 47-year-old Kevin Johnson was indicated Monday on murder, burglary and promoting prostitution charges in the October 2016 slaying of Kimberly Rhoades.
Authorities say the 47-year-old woman was working for Johnson when he allegedly broke into her apartment and beat her with his fists and slammed her head on a concrete floor because he claimed she owed him money.
Police say Rhoades died a day later from severe bleeding on the brain.
Johnson was originally arrested on a lesser manslaughter charge.
It couldn't be learned from prosecutors if Johnson has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
