Village of Sylvan Beach, NY (WIBX) - State police arrested five people this week during random patrols of Sylvan Beach, for violating the open container law. Three of the suspects are 16 and 17-years-old and face charges for underage drinking.

Officials are reminding the public about the Village's zero tolerance policy regarding its open alcohol container ordinance. If you're heading to the area for the long holiday weekend, keep this in mind. State police routinely conduct random checks of the beach and surrounding area to enforce the law.

NYSP in Sylvan Beach arrested the following individuals:

  • Christopher J. Furco Jr, age 26, of Gallow Hill Ct Liverpool, NY charged with violating the Village of Sylvan Beach open container ordinance. To appear in the Village of Sylvan Beach court on 06/07/12 at 4:00PM.
  • Jason A. Duquette, age 26, of Glencairn Ct Liverpool, NY charged with violating the Village of Sylvan Beach open container ordinance. To appear in the Village of Sylvan Beach court on 06/07/12 at 4:00PM.
  • John R. Dziura, age 16, of State Route 365 Holland Patent, NY charged with Possessing Alcohol by a Person under 21. To appear in the Village of Sylvan Beach court on 06/07/12 at 4:00PM.
  • Kenneth J. Stay, age 17, of Stearns Rd Rome, NY charged with Possessing Alcohol by a Person under 21 and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. To appear in the Village of Sylvan Beach court on 06/07/12 at 4:00PM.
  • John C. Garrett , age 17, of Park Ave Holland Patent, NY charged with Possessing Alcohol by a Person under 21 and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. To appear in the Village of Sylvan Beach court on 06/07/12 at 4:00PM. Garrett was also wanted by the Oneida County Sheriff's Office on unrelated charges in the Town of Trenton. He was turned over to the Sheriff's Office for further prosecution.
