Each year around the holidays, New York State Police and the NYS Liquor Authority conduct one of their sting operations to find local establishments, clerks and bartenders willing to sell alcohol to minors. An operation was recently conducted on November 21, 2024, and all but one of the locations tested complied with the law.
An underage Drinking Initiative was conducted in Chenango County on Thursday. State Police report that one business out of the fourteen that they checked allegedly sold alcohol to a minor.
State authorities say they're launching an effort to crack down on underage drinking on college campuses and in college towns now that the fall semester is beginning for schools across New York.
